In Mumbai, the CBI has filed a chargesheet against income-tax officer Sandeep Singh. Singh, who was on deputation as an assistant director with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), was allegedly caught accepting a bribe in August. Singh led an ED search team that raided a jeweller's home in connection with a money laundering case involving an investment app controlled by Chinese nationals. Although the ED team in Delhi was investigating the case, Singh was not directly involved in the investigation. Following the raid on the jeweller's home, Singh reportedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the jeweller, threatening to arrest his son in the case. He directed the jeweller to deliver the money to him in Delhi via hawala. Subsequently, the jeweller reported the corruption to the CBI, leading to Singh's arrest after he accepted the bribe in Delhi. Singh's bail application was previously denied by the sessions court, and he is currently in jail. The CBI confiscated a phone not registered in Singh's name during his arrest.
